Italian and Libyan officials say over 6,000 migrants have been rescued and 22 found dead on the perilous sea route to Europe on Monday, one of the highest numbers in a single day.
The Italian coast guard rescues eight boatloads of migrants in one day, saving the lives of 935 people trying to make their way to Europe. Rough Cut (no reporter narration).
The Italian coast guard say almost 1,000 migrants were recued in six separate operations in the Mediterranean on Tuesday, although four people were found suffocated.
