The death toll from floods in eastern Libya is expected to soar dramatically, with 10,000 people reported missing, the Red Cross warns. Senegalese opposition leader Ousmane Sonko makes his first public appearance in months, greeting and waving at hundreds of supporters in the capital Dakar, a day after his release from prison. Sonko is welcomed by the crowd ahead of a press conference he was due to hold with his deputy, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, who was also released from prison on Thursday and who Sonko has endorsed as a candidate for the country's March 24 presidential vote.
