    The sun rises above the horizon and sets again in the far north of Finland for the last time this year, marking the start of the polar night, or "kaamos" which will last until 16 January. The village of Utsjoki, on Finland's northern border with Norway, saw sunrise at 11.34 on Thursday and sunset just 48 minutes later.
