John Lithgow Talks Playing Winston Churchill In 'The Crown'

"Intimidated and excited in equal measure" were the words actor John Lithgow used to describe playing British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in Netflix's upcoming new drama, 'The Crown'. Lithgow appeared on CBS This Morning with his co-star from the show, Claire Foy, who plays Queen Elizabeth II. The 'Harry and the Hendersons' actor also talked about the difficulty of taking on a role like Churchill as an American, describing what writer Peter Morgan called 'Churchill Fatigue' among U.K. actors whom have played the role again and again. "They needed a new spin," says Lithgow, "So they hired a clown from America." 'The Crown' will be on Netflix on November 4th.
