Former Stanford University swimmer Brock Turner faces up to ten years in prison after being convicted on Wednesday of sexually assaulting an unconscious woman following a party on campus. Jillian Kitchener reports.
Bobbi Sternheim, Ghislaine Maxwell's lawyer, says her client "will appeal this case," after she was sentenced to 20 years in prison by a New York judge for helping the late disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein sexually abuse girls. "We are confident that she will prevail on appeal," Sternheim tells reporters. SOUNDBITE
Convicted rapist and former Brazil international Dani Alves leaves a prison near Barcelona after posting the one-million-euro bail set by a court to ensure his release pending appeal. Christian Brueckner, the German man suspected of abducting missing British toddler Madeleine McCann, appears in public for the first time since being named in her case, arriving at a court in Braunschweig for the start of his trial on unrelated sex crime charges. German prosecutors have yet to charge Brueckner over Madeleine's disappearance, but in October 2022 he was charged with five separate counts of rape and child sex abuse allegedly committed in Portugal, where Madeleine disappeared, between 2000 and 2017.
