Chile declared a state of emergency on Friday as officials said 10 people were feared dead in forest fires in the central Valparaiso region, where blazes are threatening hundreds of homes. IMAGES
A wildfire has already burnt almost 1,500 hectares in the province of Valencia and caused the evacuation of hundreds of residents. Fire brigade's work gets complicated by strong winds as the fire remains out of control. IMAGES
Video footage released by the local firefighting brigade shows rescue efforts at a nightclub in Murcia, southeastern Spain, which killed at least seven people, according to emergency services. IMAGES
Firefighters battle a a huge wildfire on the Spanish holiday island of Tenerife that has forced the evacuation of thousands of people and has so far destroyed more than 3,800 hectares (9,400 acres) of land, according to the regional government. The fire, which broke out late on Tuesday, has been raging through a forested area with steep ravines in the northeastern part of the island which is part of the Spanish archipelago that lies off the coast of northwestern Africa.
