Rubles Record Set for Russian Box Office This Summer

This June through August Russians were spending a record number of rubles at the box office. And Hollywood got most of the benefit, with just 2% of box office sales going toward Russian films. Overall, the summer box office brought in 12.9 billion rubles which was 7% higher than the 2014 record of 12.1 rubles, and 10% higher than last year's summer box office at 11.9 billion rubles. The top three movies of the summer brought in a health number of rubles each, with Secret Life Of Pets bringing in 1.7 billion, Suicide Squad earning 1.6 billion rubles, and Now You See Me 2 getting 1.1 billion. Due to a weak ruble and weak Russian economy, the 2014 record is still the American Dollars record summer box office.
