Giant Confucius Statue Opened to Public in China

New York has the Statue of Liberty, Rio de Janeiro has Christ the Redeemer, and now Nishan, China has a massive statue of Confucius. A 236 foot statue of the famous Chinese philosopher and writer Confucius was unveiled in his hometown of Nishan in eastern Shandong Province, becoming the tallest Confucius statue in the world so far. The project began in May 2012 and was finally completed late last month. Tourists can already visit the statue but the official open date is yet to be established.
