A fire near the scenic Big Sur area of California forces the evacuation of hundreds of residents, guts dozens of homes and kills an equipment operator who was battling the flames. Diane Hodges reports.
In the town of Orotova, Tenerife, the last epicentre of the fires which broke out on the island on Tuesday, is being tackled by the emergency services, who are making gains after better-than-expected weather overnight. Helicopters carrying water dampen the flames as large plumes of smoke can be seen rising from the hillside. IMAGES
Official video from the Kazakh Ministry for Emergency Situations shows personnel fighting deadly wildfires in the eastern region of Karaganda. The bodies of 14 people were found, according to a statement released on the official Telegram account of the ministry, all of which were rescuers. The ministry adds that over "a thousand people, 252 units of equipmment" were involved in the operations. IMAGES

Firefighters continue to battle to keep a fire under control in Bejís (east Spain), where the rain has helped to reduce the flames according to official sources. The wildfire burnt more than 9500 hectares, forcing evacuation of around 1500 people. IMAGES
