A number of people have been infected with necrotizing fasciitis, more commonly known as flesh-eating disease, in Japan since the beginning of the year.There had been a total of 273 cases of flesh-eating bacteria in Japan as of December 2014. Following the appearance of several new cases this year, the total number of cases has risen to 279.
