Footage filmed on March 4 captures the sad moment that a baby monkey wept over the body of her slain mother, who died on the asphalt of the Tamil Nadu-Karnataka National highway in India after being hit by a vehicle on the busy road. Following the death of the mother monkey, passers-by filmed the heartbreaking scene as the baby wailed and held her mother's head while looking into her eyes, as if refusing to believe that she was gone. The baby monkey embraced her mother and cuddled with her one last time. It is unclear what happened to the baby monkey after the filming.
Police say an 18-month-old baby was found alive, and the mother found dead, in a car which had plunged into Utah's Spanish Fork River the night before. Jillian Kitchener reports.
The Zoo of Copenhagen has released footage of a baby elephant which was born last week in captivity as part of a European breeding program for Asian elephants. The mother is 16 year old Maha Kumari and the fathers name is Fahim. The name and gender of the baby elephant aren't known yet. Calves weight in beetween 70 and 90kg at birth after spending 22 months in their mothers wombs, the longest gestation in the animal kindom.
