Local health authorities have linked a recent surge in cases with a new variant of the novel coronavirus, which is believed to be more infectious. The surge of coronavirus cases is putting a tough burden on local hospitals and prompted countries around the world to impose travel restrictions on the country. Colombian Police seized over 12 tons of cocaine valued at over $360 million in major bust on Wednesday. According to Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos this raid became the largest ever seizure in Colombia's history. Reports state that the cocaine was located in the north-western Antioquia province, in four banana plantations near the country's border with Panama. Police reported that the drugs belonged to the trafficking cartel 'the Gulf Clan' and that they arrested four people in connection with cocaine trafficking during their operation.
