Violence breaks out in the Paris suburb of Nanterre, where several thousand people were marching in tribute to 17-year-old Nahel who was killed by a police officer during a traffic stop on Tuesday. Scuffles broke out, with fireworks being fired, to which the police responded with tear gas. Several fires were lit in the vicinity of the prefecture and cars were set alight. IMAGES

Police are investigating the scene of a shooting that left five people injured, three of them seriously injured, in Villerupt, a small town near the Luxembourg border affected by drug trafficking. IMAGES
A large security perimeter is set up around Paris' rue d'Enghien, in the 10th arrondissement, following a shooting that killed at least two people according to the prosecutor’s office. Four others were injured, two of them are currently under emergency treatment. A suspect, "a man between 60 and 70 years old was arrested and taken into custody," the prosecutor said. IMAGES
