If you've got even a light case of coulrophobia, or a fear of clowns, then thank your lucky stars that you missed the 21st annual Clown Convention, which took place in Mexico City on Tuesday. Clowns from all over the world with all sorts of face paint and colorful outfits gathered in front of the Monument to the Revolution in order to meet with like minded entertainers and talk about the latest tools of the trade. This convention comes at an important moment for the clown community which, in recent weeks, has been subjected to bad press after a spate of 'clown attacks' and 'scary' clown sightings. Perhaps you've seen some videos on YouTube or Facebook where people dressed as clowns have tried to scare others, perhaps you've even been a victim. Some of the professional clowns at the convention made a point to disavow the connection between clowns and these scary incidents, reminding the world that the majority of people don't want to harm people, let alone kill anyone. Most clowns just want to make people laugh.
