Marching bands, dancing groups and sporting clubs from across Bavaria paraded through Munich city center, on their way to the Oktoberfest venue at the city's Theresienwiese. Over 6 million visitors from around the world are expected to attend this year’s festivities.

Countless numbers of beer lovers flooded the brewery tents in Munich as the world renown Oktoberfest festival officially kicked off on Saturday. Over 7 million visitors are expected to attend Oktoberfest this year. Vendors expect the revelers to imbibe over 6.5 million litres of beer during the festival and are expecting to rake in an astounding $1.5 billion in revenue from tourists in 2017.
