Basking Shark Swarms Discovered Along Northeastern Coast

Description

Swarms of up to over a thousand basking sharks have been spotted along the northeastern U.S. The findings have puzzled experts who study the solitary species, who can be tricky to track down. Basking sharks spend about 90 percent of their time deep underwater, and only 10 percent at the surface. Found worldwide, these slow-moving filter feeders pose no threat to humans.
