Skoda Octavia Scout driving in winter conditions

Description

With its current portfolio of four all-wheel-drive models, ranging from the compact Octavia through to the Superb, SKODA is one of the longest-established brands to feature all-wheel-drive technology. The first multi-axle drive systems were tested in Mladá Boleslav as early as the late 1930s. The 4×4 success story, the first chapter of which was written with a SKODA Octavia COMBI 4×4, began in 1999. Since then, SKODA auto has produced a total of more than 700,000 all-wheel-drive vehicles. Interest in SKODA’s all-wheel-drive cars is so high, that the Czech manufacturer has added three other cornerstones to its 4×4 range in the past three years. SKODA’s 4×4 model range now includes the KAROQ, Octavia, Kodiaq and Superb. The Skoda Karoq is a completely new compact SUV from the long-standing Czech brand. The emotive and dynamic design with numerous crystalline elements characterises Skoda's new SUV design language. As a true Skoda, the Skoda Karoq offers exceptional space, new driver-assistance systems, full?LED headlights and - for the first time in a Skoda - a digital instrument panel. Five engine variants are available from 85 kW (115 PS) to 140 kW (190 PS), of which four are new. Typical of Skoda are smart ideas for the brand's new compact SUV which include features such as the rear-seat VarioFlex system and the virtual pedal for the hands-free opening of the boot. Longer items can be comfortably transported in the interior of the compact SUV - thanks to the folding front passenger seat.

The brand’s best-selling 4×4 pioneer is also available in its fourth generation as a saloon and estate with a host of trim levels. In the Ambition and Style lines, the 4×4 powertrain is available in combination with the 110 kW (150 hp) 2.0 TDI, while the Octavia Sportline and the Octavia Scout, which is only available as an estate, also offer the 2.0 TSI with a 140 kW (190 hp) output. Another engine available for the Octavia Scout is the 2.0 TDI with an output of 147 kW (200 hp) that Škoda also installs in the sporty Octavia RS. The Octavia comes equipped with a sixth-generation electronic multi-plate clutch. Weighing around 0.8 kilograms less than its predecessor, it has optimised efficiency, resulting in lower fuel consumption. Its integrated control unit also ensures faster response times. With its ground clearance increased by 15 millimetres to a total of 163 millimetres, the Octavia Scout also comes with a rough-road package, including underride protection on the rear axle. As standard, this variant includes the Off-road driving mode, which fine-tunes the settings of the stability systems, such as ABS, ASR and ESC, to off-road driving. The accelerator pedal then has a flatter characteristic curve, the 7-speed DSG shifts at higher revs and the Proactive Occupant Protection tightening of the seat belts is deactivated. Adapted ambient lighting and Hill Descent Control also come as standard. The towing capacity of an all-wheel drive Octavia is up to 2,000 kilograms for diesel models. In 2022, Škoda produced 14,463 Octavias with all-wheel drive.

  • Skoda OCTAVIA SCOUT Driving Video

The ŠKODA OCTAVIA is the heart of the Czech car manufacturer and tops the bestseller lists in numerous European countries. In the fourth generation of the OCTAVIA, the robust SCOUT and two other sporty RS variants complete the portfolio. By electrifying the powertrain using the new mild hybrid technology and two OCTAVIA iV models with plug-in hybrid drives, ŠKODA once again significantly reduces the CO2 emissions of the new OCTAVIA. The bestseller's IV variants drive up to 60 kilometers locally without emissions in the WLTP cycle, and the internal combustion engines are also constantly being further developed. They are even more efficient and ŠKODA has reduced the emission of nitrogen oxides by around 80 percent in the diesel generators of the new EVO generation. With two body variants, front or all-wheel drive, manual gearbox or direct shift gearbox (DSG) and five drive options - petrol, diesel, CNG, mild and plug-in hybrid - every ŠKODA customer will find the right OCTAVIA. The heart of the all-wheel drive in the OCTAVIA is the electronically controlled multi-plate clutch, which, following the extensive technical revision in the current sixth generation, is also significantly lighter than its predecessor.
