Former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko arrives at a Kyiv court. Prosecutors are appealing against a bail decision freeing the ex-Ukrainian president, who is accused of treason. Georgia's ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili faces trial on abuse of office charges which he has denounced as politically motivated. It is Saakashvili's first courtroom appearance since the Caucasus country's top opposition leader was arrested on October 1 shortly after his return from exile. A Russian court sentences a Ukrainian journalist to 12 years in a strict regime penal colony after he was found guilty of espionage, in a case Kiev has condemned as "politically motivated". Journalist Roman Sushchenko, who worked for Ukrainian state news agency Ukrinform for more than a decade, was detained in Moscow in 2016.
