• Jaguar I-PACE - Crash Tests 2018

Euro NCAP performs a series of crash tests on each model tested: - a frontal impact test, the car impacts a rigid barrier - an offset frontal impact test, 40% of the width of the car is striking a deformable barrier - a pole test, the tested car is propelled sideways into a rigid pole - a side impact test, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door. The passenger compartment of the I-PACE remained stable in the frontal offset test. Dummy readings indicated good protection of theknees and femurs of the driver and passenger. Jaguar showed that a similar level of protection would be provided to occupants of different sizes and to those sitting in different positions for all but the passenger's right knee and femur, protection of which was rated as marginal. In the full-width rigid barrier test, protection of the chest was adequate for both the driver and rear passenger, and protection of all other critical body areas was good. In both the side barrier impact and the more severe side pole test, maximum points were scored, with good protection of all critical body areas. Tests on the front seats and head restraints demonstrated good protection against whiplash injuries in the event of a rear-end collision. A geometric assessment of the rear seats indicated marginal whiplash protection. The standard-fit autonomous emergency braking system performed well in tests of its functionality at the low speeds, typical of city driving, at which many whiplash injuries are caused.

  • 2019 Jaguar I-Pace on the track in Algarve, Portugal - Press film

"The Jaguar I-Pace is the electric vehicle drivers have been waiting for. Clean, smart and safe, the I-Pace delivers sustainable sports car performance, next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) technology and five-seat SUV practicality to place Jaguar at the forefront of the EV revolution. With a state-of-the-art 90kWh Lithium-ion battery using 432 pouch cells, the I-Pace delivers a range of 480km (WLTP cycle). Owners will be able to achieve a 0-80 per cent battery charge in just 40 minutes using DC rapid charging (100kW). Home charging with an AC wall box (7kW) will achieve the same state of charge in just over ten hours - ideal for overnight charging. A suite of smart range-optimising technologies includes a battery pre-conditioning system: when plugged in the Jaguar I-Pace will automatically raise (or lower) the temperature of its battery to maximise range ahead of driving away. Two Jaguar-designed electric motors - which feature driveshafts passing through the motors themselves for compactness - are placed at each axle, producing exceptional combined performance of 400PS and 696Nm, and all-wheel-drive, all-surface traction. The high torque density and high-energy efficiency characteristics of the motors deliver sports car performance, launching the I-Pace from a standing start to 100km/h in just 4.8 seconds. The instantaneous performance is matched with exceptional ride comfort and engaging driving dynamics."
