Trump inspects wall prototypes at Mexican border


US President Donald Trump makes his first presidential visit to California where he inspected several prototypes of the wall he wants to build on the border with Mexico to help control illegal immigration.

  • Trump Says National Guard May Stay At Mexican Border Until Wall Is Built

    President Donald Trump told reporters he may keep the National Guard along the southern border until his proposed wall is built. The proposed wall failed to garner much funding in the federal budget past last month, but President Trump has remaining committed to stemming illegal immigration along the Mexican border. According to Trump, he wants 2 to 4 thousand troops patrolling the border, and is looking into how much it would cost to deploy the Guard. His comments come a day after Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen announced Trump's decision to deploy the National Guard along the southern border.

  • Trump Wants National Guard On Mexican Border Until Wall Built

    On Thursday, U.S. President Donald Trump said he would probably station a few thousand National Guard troops at the Mexican border until the wall he wants to build to keep out illegal immigrants is completed. No funding for the entirety of Trump’s proposed wall is currently in place. Both the Mexican government and the U.S. Congress so far have refused to fully pay for it. When asked about ow many National Guard members he wanted at the border, Trump said: “Anywhere from 2,000 to 4,000.”

    According to the Washington Post, President Donald Trump wants the US military to pay for his proposed border wall. The $1.3 trillion spending bill Trump signed last week only included $1.6 billion for fencing and levees along the US-Mexican border, and only $640 million for new fencing. The bill also limits spending that money to designs already fielded by May 2017, and would not include prototype designs.
