A Russian man who left his car on a hill in Penza during a snow storm was forced to chase it down the street after it rolled away last Tuesday. It's no wonder that this monster hill is known by locals as the Bewitched Mountain. We weren't able to get footage of how the car came to a stop, but something tells us that's probably for the best.
Tired of struggling through the snow in Russia's cold winter, 59-year old inventor Nikolay Rodin built a snowplough to clear the rads using a classic Soviet Lada car in his Siberian home city of Barnaul. The bumbling beast of car, rattling through the roads on giant caterpillar tracks with a freshly painted Lada chassis, should probably be called the Soviet Snowplow from now on. It took Nikolay three months to convert the old Lada 2107 Zhiguli into a snowplough, which he uses to clear the roads near his home. The caterpillar tracks on Rodin's home-made snowplough allows the vehicle to turn a full 360 degrees. Now his neighbours call him 'Uncle Kolya' - he's become famous in his neck of the city for his ability to restore cars and to build high quality car prototypes. Images outside the Russian embassy in Bucharest where a man died after ramming his car into the gates of the building and setting himself on fire inside the vehicle. Romanian media said the driver headed an NGO for fathers' rights and was on Tuesday sentenced to 15 years in prison for molesting his underage daughter. IMAGES
The girlfriend of 30-year-old Robert Howard reported him missing Wednesday night. He was later found to have been shot to death inside a vehicle. According to Newser, the grisly murder was made even more horrifying by the discovery of who the killer was. The suspect is an on-duty police officer in Memphis, Tennessee, and authorities say the vehicle was his own patrol car. Patric Ferguson, 29, faces first-degree murder and kidnapping charges, and he's been fired from the force. Ferguson confronted Howard outside a home, forced him into the back of the squad car, drove less than a half-mile away, and fatally shot him. Another man has been charged with helping Ferguson dispose of the body. Police say the remains were later discovered near a bridge.
