Blue Apron Shares Drop To A New Low


Shares of Blue Apron dipped to an all-time low. The meal-kit subscription dropped to $1.81 per share on Tuesday. The company has faced increasing pressures from competition, like HelloFresh. big companies like Walmart and Amazon entering its space. In March, Walmart announced it was launching its own line of meal kits. The company has struggled to attract new customers and retain old ones since going public last June.

While the company did beat Wall Street expectations in third-quarter earnings by reporting $210.6 million of revenue, it still saw a bigger than expected loss per share of $0.47. Its largest competitor, Hello Fresh, who went public last week in Germany, also reported revenue growth in its most recent quarter, and a net loss smaller than Blue Apron's this week.

    According to Reuters, Tesla shares dropped by 4-percent during morning trading. By the afternoon on April 25th, Tesla shares were trading at $250, which is a six-month low. Tesla's stock began to decline during after-hours trading a day before, following the release of their first quarter earnings report for 2019. The disappointing earnings report fell far below analyst expectations.

    Business Insider reports Blue Apron hit a record low of $1.50 a share on Tuesday. The meal-kit maker announced it was launching a pilot program for on-demand delivery. The pilot program would only be in New York City, for now. The On-Demand delivery will be on the Grubhub and Seamless online and mobile platforms. Blue Apron shares are down 85% since their June 2017 initial public offering.

  • Blue Apron Shares Rise After CEO Steps Down

    Following the announcement that CFO Brad Dickerson will be the new CEO of Blue Apron, shares for the food ingredient delivery service went up 6.51%. Dickerson replaces Blue Apron founder Matt Salzberg, who is stepping down as CEO and president. Before announcing his resignation, Salzberg led the company for its first five years, taking it public in June. However since then, Blue Apron has struggled massively with shares down about 70% from their initial public offering price of $10. Blue Apron's IPO was also said to have bad timing as it was overshadowed by Amazon's $13.7 billion acquisition of Whole Foods.
