"Momentum in the development of the Polestar 1 has increased with the production of the first series of road-going verification prototype (VP) cars in Sweden. Produced for a number of purposes including crash tests, weather testing and on-road assessment, the VP cars form the very first fleet of Polestar 1 cars on the road. Construction of the cars, which takes place in a specialised prototype production facility in Gothenburg, is largely done by hand. It acts as the first testing phase for production of Polestar 1 customer cars which will be built at the new Polestar Production Centre in Chengdu, China. The carbon fibre-body of the Polestar 1 required the development of new specialised production equipment and construction techniques that will be transferred to the factory and used to build the production cars. Production of the Polestar 1 marks the first time that a brand in the Volvo Car Group has explored carbon fibre construction. The VP cars have allowed engineers to design, test and execute complicated construction processes with positive results."
Volvo’s new electric performance line, Polestar, showed up, Polestar 1, is a 2-door coupe that looks like a Volvo S90. It is made from carbon fibre, and based on Volvo's SPA platform. The Polestar 1, while not a pure electric vehicle, is an electric performance hybrid GT capable of producing 600 horsepower. Capable of running 150 kilometres in electric mode, and has the longest electric-only driving range of any hybrid car in the world.
The second generation of the Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé is the new top model in the Mercedes-AMG range. It combines highly dynamic driving characteristics with increased suitability for everyday use. As the fifth independent model series after SLS, the first generation of the two-door GT, GT 4-door Coupé and SL, the new Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé once again demonstrates the high technological expertise of the Affalterbach development team.The vehicle will be available as an AMG GT 63 4MATIC+ Coupé with 430 kW (585 PS) of output in October 2023 and as an AMG GT 55 4MATIC+ Coupé with 350 kW (476 PS) of output in July 2024.
