Stunning footage from the Chinese city of Xinglong, located in the Hebei province, shows the transformation of a blood moon to a lunar eclipse. A rare combination of a blue super moon and a lunar eclipse was seen all over the world on Wednesday, creating a 'super blue blood moon.' The celestial event is known as a lunar trifecta, the combination of a super moon, a total lunar eclipse and a blue moon.
The longest lunar eclipse of the century took place on Friday night and Saturday morning, as the moon was totally eclipsed by the Earth for one hour and 43 minutes. During this time, people around the world were able to see a "red moon" or “blood moon”, as the Earth’s satellite turns red. The video shows three different locations: the Poseidon's Temple in Sounio (Greece), the event in Teheran (Iran) and the bright blood red eclipse in the Roman sky (Italy).
Stargazers in North America, Hawaii, the Middle East, Russia, India, and Australia had the chance to witness a rare "super blue blood Moon" Wednesday, when Earth's shadow bathes our satellite in a coppery hue. IMAGES of the moon from Bangkok.
Time-lapse video shows a total lunar eclipse, also known as a "blood moon", which was visible from the U.S. as it dipped into Earth's shadow. Rough Cut (no reporter narration).
