A federal judge has nixed a Trump administration proposal that would have kicked off nearly 700,000 American adults from the USDA's food stamps program. The proposed change to the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program, or SNAP, would have made it more difficult for Americans to qualify for the program. The DC US District Court said the proposal leaves 'states scrambling and exponentially increasing food insecurity for tens of thousands of Americans.' The ruling noted the USDA has been 'icily silent' about how many American adults would have been denied SNAP benefits during the pandemic. According to Business Insider, as of May 2020, SNAP rosters added over 6 million new enrollees.
Former President Barack Obama threw some geographic shade at the Trump administration in an interview with Stephen Colbert on Tuesday. Business Insider reports Obama praised President-elect Joe Biden's foreign policy picks for the incoming administration. Obama said that he was looking forward to seeing an administration where people 'know where countries are.' In June 2017, President Donald Trump reportedly mispronounced Nepal and Bhutan as "Nipple" and "Button." When looking at a map, the leader of the free world had to be told where the countries were located.

Dr. Anthony Fauci is not having Thanksgiving dinner with his family this year. However, contrary to media reports, the 79-year old scientist is not "canceling Thanksgiving." Fauci said his decision not to have Thanksgiving is not a mandate against the gathering. "That doesn't mean everybody should be calling Thanksgiving off." He stated that many should consider it. Fauci and the CDC's Dr. Robert Redfield have already warned small gatherings are driving an uptick in coronavirus cases around the country. "That's the exact scenario that you're going to see in Thanksgiving," he said Ultimately, people have to weigh the risks of coming together for Thanksgiving this year for themselves.
Democrats saw a sight for sore eyes on Wednesday when former President Barack Obama hit the campaign trail in Philadelphia. They see the former president as a key factor in encouraging Black men, Latinos, and younger voters to turn out and vote. CNN reports Obama delivered a blistering account of President Donald Trump's first four years in office. He argued that Trump has proved to be 'incapable of taking the job seriously' and has shown no interest in 'helping anybody but himself and his friends.' Obama suggested Trump uses the presidency to boost his own profile, then noted, 'Even then, his TV ratings are down. So you know that upsets him.' Obama's remarks will undoubtedly anger Trump, who has continued to attack his predecessor even after almost four years removed from his last day in office.
