Millions of revelers dance to the beat in the streets of Brazil for five days celebrating Carnival, though in some cities the party will continue.
Dozens of people are seen on the streets of Rio de Janeiro on the first day that shopping centres are allowed to reopen in Brazil, despite the fact that the country remains the hardest-hit by the coronavirus in Latin America with more than 40,000 deaths -- currently the third highest death toll in the world. February in Brazil is synonymous with Carnival, one of the biggest and craziest street parties in the world. However, residents of Rio de Janeiro wanted to make sure that their faithful pooches wouldn't miss out on Carnival, and decided to warm up for the huge celebration by throwing a special mini-Carnival dedicated to dogs! Dog lovers dressed their furry friends in colorful Carnival-themed costumes and mingled in sunny Rio de Janeiro on Saturday.
The Olympic torch arrived in Rio Wednesday after travelling around the globe for over 20,000 kilometers. The torch was welcomed with joy by Rio residents, although some protesters forced riot police to escort the torch.
