The United States calls the death of six-year-old Gaza girl Hind Rajab, who days earlier had pleaded for help, "heartbreaking" and urges a prompt Israeli investigation. "It is just a devastating account, a heartbreaking account, for this child, and of course there have been thousands of other children who have died as a result of this conflict," State Department spokesman Matthew Miller tells reporters, adding, "We have asked the Israeli authorities to investigate this incident on an urgent basis." The EU demands an "urgent" audit of the UN Palestinian refugee agency UNRWA and says it is reviewing funding, following Israeli allegations that some staff participated in Hamas's October 7 attack.
