Protesters outside the Israeli embassy in London, wave the Israeli flag and call for the return of the hostages who have been held captive by Hamas since 7 October. The war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza has entered its 12 month with little sign of respite for the Palestinian territory or hope for Israeli hostages still held captive. IMAGES
The United States renews its call on Israel not to attack the packed Gaza city of Rafah as it reviews a response from Hamas to a ceasefire proposal. "We cannot support an operation in Rafah as it is currently envisioned," State Department spokesman Matthew Miller tells reporters. SOUNDBITE
The United States warns that any Gaza ceasefire by Israel would benefit Hamas, as the European Union considers a call for a humanitarian pause. A ceasefire would "give Hamas the ability to rest, to refit and to get ready to continue launching terrorist attacks against Israel," State Department spokesman Matthew Miller tells reporters. In Geneva, outside the United Nations headquarters, protesters call for the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas. IMAGES
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken tells reporters that other hostages held by Hamas should be released, following the news that the militant group released two American hostages abducted during their surprise attack on Israel. SOUNDBITE
