The White House says that President Joe Biden had done nothing wrong after Republican lawmakers launched an impeachment inquiry against him, rejecting their allegations as baseless. "They have turned out with no evidence, none, that he did anything wrong. The president didn't do anything wrong," White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre tells reporters. SOUNDBITE
US President Donald Trump appears to be running out of lifelines to save himself politically. CNN reports Trump had hoped a range of pivotal events would turn the electoral tide in his direction, but they're vanishing as quickly as Halloween candy. A coronavirus vaccine hasn't been created. Nor has a massive stimulus package materialized. And the investigation into the Clinton Foundation was a bust. So the president has taken to dialing Fox hosts from the White House and ripping his senior-most Cabinet members for not delivering before election day. It's an unfamiliar experience for a man used to getting what he wants. He is in a completely different universe right now where nobody is left, really, to help him out of the jams he keeps getting himself into. The White House says it had "warned" Iran after President Joe Biden said Tehran was threatening a significant attack on Israel over a strike that destroyed an Iranian consulate building in Damascus. SOUNDBITE
White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan briefs the press following a phone call between Joe Biden and Benjamin Netanyahu during which the US president told his Israeli counterpart that he is "deeply concerned" about Israel potentially conducting military operations in Rafah, adding, "Israel has not presented us or the world with a plan for how or where they would safely move those civilians."
