The US military has completed construction of its Gaza aid pier, but weather conditions mean it is currently unsafe to move the two-part facility into place, the Pentagon says. SOUNDBITE
"Sweden is supporting Ukraine with its 16th aid package, its largest to date worth 13.3 billion kronor", i.e. 1.25 billion dollars, tells the Swedish Deputy Prime Minister Ebba Busch during a press conference focusing on military support of the Nordic country to Ukraine. SOUNDBITE
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announces in Kyiv a further $2 billion in military aid for Ukrainian forces holding back Russian onslaughts at several points across the sprawling front. The announcement comes at a press conference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba weeks after Washington approved a $61 billion package of aid for the country following months of delays in Congress. Hospitals in the southern Gaza Strip "only have enough fuel to run health services...for three more days" says WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, who blames closed border crossings for the shortage. "Fuel that we expected to be allowed in today has not been allowed in" he says, explaining that, if supplies are not able to get into Gaza, the WHO "cannot sustain our life-saving support." SOUNDBITE
The Rafah and Kerem Shalom crossings, whose closure by Israel is cutting off aid to Gaza, must be reopened "immediately", urges UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. SOUNDBITE
