The White House welcomes an agreement to extend a truce between Israel and Hamas by two days. "We would of course hope to see the pause extended further, and that will depend upon Hamas continuing to release hostages," National Security Council spokesman John Kirby tells reporters. SOUNDBITE
The White House says it is "seriously concerned" about reports that a Palestinian teenager with dual US citizenship has been killed by Israeli fire in the occupied West Bank. "We're seriously concerned about these reports. The information is scant at this time, we don't have perfect context about exactly what happened," National Security Council spokesman John Kirby tells reporters. SOUNDBITE
The United States wants the war between Israel and Hamas to "end as soon as possible," the White House says, after Israel's defense minister told a top US official the conflict would last several months more. "How long that's going to take? I can't predict...but obviously we all want it to be over as soon as possible," US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby tells reporters in a briefing.
