    A gunman livestreamed on social media the murders of 49 people and wounding of more than 40 Muslim worshippers in New Zealand Friday. Reuters reports Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern condemned the murders in two Christchurch mosques as terrorism. The gunman broadcast footage of the attack on one mosque in the city of Christchurch on Facebook. He also published a “manifesto” in which he denounced immigrants, calling them “invaders”. The video footage showed the gunman driving to one mosque, entering it and shooting randomly at men, women, and children there.

    According to Reuters, more than 2,000 people stood through icy rain in sub-freezing temperatures in Illinois on Sunday for a vigil that was held for the five people killed and five police officers wounded by a factory worker who opened fire on Friday after losing his job.The mourners at the vigil gathered together before five white crosses with the names of the dead. The crosses that became a monument to the victims and featured pictures and hand-written remembrances of the lives that were lost.

  • Mass Murderer At Illinois Factory Was Recently-Fired Felon

    The gunman who killed five co-workers and wounded five police officers at an Illinois factory was a violent felon. Reuters reports Gary Martin, 45, had just been fired when he returned to the plant armed with an illegally-owned handgun. Martin was convicted for aggravated assault in 1995, and had several prior arrests for suspicion of domestic violence and criminal damage to property. Aurora Police Chief Kristen Ziman says the plant manager and a young intern were among Martin's victims. The fact remains that some disgruntled person walked in and had access to a firearm that he shouldn’t have had access to. Aurora Police Chief Kristen Ziman Martin was later killed in a shootout with SWAT-team officers who stormed the sprawling plant 40 miles west of Chicago.
