R. Kelly's Lawyers Say He Lost A Sexual Assault Court Case Because He Can't Read

Description

R. Kelly's lawyers argued that the singer didn't show up to a hearing on a civil sex abuse case because he can't read. The Chicago Sun-Times reports, Kelly was served the lawsuit in March while in jail for failing to pay over $160,000 in child support. On April 23, Kelly failed to show up at a hearing for the case, and therefore lost the case by a default judgement. In a court motion, Kelly’s two new lawyers said he never should have gotten the court summons in the first place due to his dyslexia. Business Insider reports, the court filing claimed that the lawyers should have been served instead of him.
