InSight Lander Detects Quake On Mars

Description

According to Science Magazine, NASA's InSight lander detected a subterranean quake on Mars. The lander's seismometer detected its first verifiable quake on April 6th. The tiny rumble of seismic activity was so small, it would not have been detected on Earth because of waves and wind. But Mars is relatively quiet compared to Earth, which is why the lander’s sensitive seismometer was able to detect it. The lander marks NASA's return to planetary seismology, which dates back to the Apollo missions.
