Disaster Relief Package Coming Right Up

On Monday Senate Appropriations Chairman Republican Richard Shelby is giving in on his demand to add a key provision to the long-stalled disaster aid bill, potentially clearing the way for passage later this week. Politico reports that the Alabama senator formally agreed to drop the fight which had held up a deal for weeks and even begun to rattle members of his own party. Shelby met with the president, as well as several other people in leadership and states that he has a commitment from them to move forward with the bill.
