The tour boat operator that owned the Mermaid, which sank a year ago on a busy stretch of the Danube in downtown Budapest, organises a commemoration event, laying a wreath at the site of the accident. The Mermaid sightseeing boat sank within seconds after colliding with the Swiss-registered Viking Sigyn river cruise vessel, leaving 27 people dead, mostly South Korean tourists. Firefighters pick through the still-smouldering ruins of a 14-storey apartment building for the more than a dozen people reported missing after a fire ravaged the block of flats in the Spanish port city of Valencia, claiming the lives of at least four people. Experts say the building was covered with highly flammable cladding, which could account for the rapid spread of the blaze after it broke out on the fourth floor at around 5:30 pm (1630 GMT) on February 22.
