OSHA Says Engineers Ignored Warning Signs Leading Up To Deadly Footbridge Collapse

According to a report by CNN, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration says that just hours before a pedestrian bridge collapsed at Florida University last year, engineers said cracks in the structure posed no safety concerns. In a 115 page report released this month, OSHA claims that the collapse in March of 2018, which claimed the lives of six people, could have been prevented. The report details how growing cracks in the structure warranted an immediate closure of SW 8th Street, however the bridge's designers, FIGG Bridge Engineers, said the cracks did not pose any safety concerns after inspecting it that day.
