U.S. Issues New Sanctions On Shipping Companies Transporting Oil From Venezuela

Description

According to a report by Reuters, on Friday, the United States announced new sanctions on shipping companies transporting oil from Venezuela, blacklisting four shipping companies and nine vessels. The US Treasury Department reportedly identified the firms as Liberia-based Jennifer Navigation, Lima Shipping Corporation, and Large Range, as well as Italy-based PB Tankers. Reuters reports that blacklisted one tanker belonging to each of the Liberian firms and six owned by the Italian firm. A Treasury statement reportedly accused Venezuela’s oil sector of continuing “to provide a lifeline to the illegitimate regime” of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
