  • Thai Soccer Team Still Trapped In Cave

    CHIANG RAI, Thailand (Reuters) - Rescuers in Thailand were no closer on Thursday to deciding when and how to extract 12 boys and their soccer coach from a flooded cave complex, where they were found this week, pale and weak but otherwise in good health, after nine days lost underground. The dramatic search and rescue operation for the junior soccer team, who disappeared in the cave in the northern province of Chiang Rai on June 23, had seemed to be nearing an end when British and Thai divers found the boys late on Monday, clustered on a small, muddy bank in a flooded chamber.

  • New Project Looks To Transform Chernobyl Into A One-Megawatt Solar Farm

    Over thirty years after a radioactive release ten times larger than the Hiroshima bomb forced hundreds of thousands of people to permanently evacuate the area, the long abandoned Chernobyl nuclear reactor will once again be generating power. According to a report by Bloomberg, this time, instead of nuclear energy, the site will be home to photovoltaic solar panels. Enerparc Ag, a German clean energy company, has teamed with Rodina Energy Group, a Ukrainian firm, for the 1.2 million dollar project to build a one-megawatt solar farm on the site. Construction on the project is expected to begin in December.
