    According to Reuters, on Thursday chief executive of the European Union responded to a Swedish teen who has inspired a global movement of children against global warming, saying the European Union should spend hundreds of billions of euros combating climate change during the next decade. In a speech alongside 16-year-old Greta Thunberg in Brussels, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker also criticized U.S. President Donald Trump for suggesting climate change was “invented” and “ideological”. Juncker said of his proposal for the EU budget, “In the next financial period from 2021 to 2027, every fourth euro spent within the EU budget will go towards action to mitigate climate change.”

  • Polar Bears Invade Russian Town, Attack People

    People are scared to leave their homes, because of a real life polar bear invasion in Novaya Zemlya, which is near Russia's northeastern arctic coast. According to CNN, parents in the remote Russian archipelago are terrified to send their children to school after what is being described as a "mass invasion of polar bears into residential areas." Polar bears have been swarming the coastal area since December, but on Saturday a state of emergency was announced. Over 50 bear sightings have occurred in Belushya Guba, the region's largest settled area with a population of 2500. Local administrator Alexander Minayev said bears have attacked people and started entering buildings. CNN explains, "Polar bears are increasingly coming into contact with humans as climate change reduces their sea-ice habitats, forcing them on land for longer periods of time."
