European Commission President candidates pose for family photo

Six candidates selected by the political parties to become the next president of the European Commission pose for a family photo ahead of a televised debate. The participating candidates are Nico Cué from the European Left, Ska Keller from the European Green Party, Jan Zahradil from the Alliance of Conservatives & Reformists in Europe, Margrethe Vestager from the Alliance of Liberals & Democrats for Europe, Manfred Weber from the European People's Party and Franz Timmermans of the Party of European Socialists. Regardless, if the US applies the tariff the European Union is going to respond firmly no matter what.

  • SCOTUS Rejects Bid To Allow Companies To Donate To Candidates

    The U.S. Supreme Court declined an opportunity to give businesses broader rights to contribute money to political candidates and causes. The justices refused to question a Massachusetts law that bars for-profit corporations from making campaign donations. The case offered Chief Justice John Roberts’s court a chance to expand the 2010 Citizens United ruling. That ruling said corporations have a First Amendment right to spend unlimited sums on political causes. The Supreme Court has been more willing to back limits on contributions to candidates. The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court upheld the state law as a legitimate means of guarding against corruption.
