An Abandoned JFK Airport Terminal Reopens Today As A Luxury Hotel

Description

The Trans World Airlines Flight Center at JFK International Airport has been a New York landmark for decades. Designed by Eero Saarinen and opened in 1962, the iconic structure has sat abandoned since 2001, when TWA went bankrupt. Now the terminal has reopened as a 512-room luxury hotel, Business Insider reports. The terminal features six restaurants, high-end retail, a vintage plane transformed into a cocktail lounge, and a rooftop infinity pool and observation deck. There will also be 50,000 square feet of event space, including a 15,000-square-foot ballroom, and a 10,000-square-foot fitness center.
