In January 2019, the fifth-generation GR Supra, the first global Toyota GAZOO Racing model, made its undisguised world debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, ending years of anticipation and speculation among sports car enthusiasts around the world. Behind the new Supra is a 50+ year lineage of unique Toyota sports and GT cars. Ahead of it awaits the world's great driving roads, some of which were used to develop this all-new expression of Toyota pure sports car performance.The 2020 Supra goes on sale in the US in July 2019 and will be available in two grades - 3.0 and 3.0 Premium - as well as an exclusive Launch Edition based on the 3.0 Premium grade. Driving enthusiasts can look forward to an exhilarating blend of power, precision and agility thanks to a rear-wheel-drive design that honors Toyota sports car heritage with its low center of gravity and optimal weight balance. There is a strong connection to Toyota's 1967 2000 GT and 1993-2002 Supra in both design and mechanical configuration. Yet, the 2020 Toyota Supra is a fully forward-looking sports car, brimming with a cutting-edge powertrain, chassis and multimedia technology.By defining specific performance and handling targets early in development, Toyota GAZOO Racing in Japan, with much input from Toyota Motor North America and Toyota Motor Europe, imbued the Supra with its own driving characteristics. While posting the kind of performance numbers that excite enthusiasts, the 2020 Supra will reward drivers of all skill levels with a thrilling sports car feel, even in everyday driving.
How does TOYOTA GAZOO Racing squeeze even more excitement into the ultra-hot GR Corolla? Like any enthusiasts, they take it to the garage and figure out how to add power, reduce weight and enhance handling – all while keeping an eye on building a car that’s ready to jump from the street to the track. Then, after tweaking, testing and re-testing, they come away with a GR Corolla that can carry only one name: GR Corolla MORIZO Edition.The purpose-built MORIZO Edition adds even more heat to Toyota’s GR lineup, which includes the performance ready GR Corolla Core Grade, launch-year-only Circuit Edition, as well as GR Supra and GR86. The MORIZO Edition was named for GR Master Driver and Toyota president Akio Toyoda. This track-oriented version of GR Corolla was designed to meet specifications desired by Toyoda himself, with tight handling, a high power-to-weight ratio and a highly rigid body. Only 200 numbered units will be produced for model year 2023.Like the Core and Circuit Edition, the MORIZO Edition comes in at 300 horsepower, with torque bumped up to 295 lb.-ft. versus the 273 lb.-ft. available in its siblings. TOYOTA GAZOO Racing engineers retuned GR Corolla’s engine for additional power, with peak torque coming in at 3250-4600 RPM. The MORIZO edition has an exclusive close ratio intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT) and shorter differential gears for satisfying acceleration across the power band.
The new Toyota GR Yaris is a pure performance car, born from Toyota's title-winning experience in the World Rally Championship. Forged from success in the heat of competition, it brings motorsport technology and design directly to the world of the road car, true to TOYOTA GAZOO Racing's ethos for making ever-better cars that are intrinsically rewarding and fun to drive.Positioned at the top of the all-new Yaris range, the GR Yaris is a unique model that benefits from the design and engineering skills of TOYOTA GAZOO Racing and Tommi Mäkinen Racing, Toyota's partner in the WRC. As well as serving as the official homologation model for development of the next Yaris WRC car, it also has all the attributes required for owners looking to compete successfully in local rally competitions. Scheduled for launch in the second half of 2020, it will follow the GR Supra as Toyota's second global GR model.
With the new GR86, Toyota is introducing its third model from the GAZOO Racing family to be offered worldwide. Together with the GR Supra and the GR Yaris, the GR86 forms a fascinating trio of thoroughbred sports cars. The extensive experience of the factory team TOYOTA GAZOO Racing flowed directly into its development, whose diverse commitment in the top classes of international motorsport is crowned by numerous victories and championship titles.The new coupe marks the entry into Toyota's GR model range and gives a wider audience access to sporty handling and performance to match. As a logical further development of the predecessor called the GT86, with which Toyota has once again underlined its commitment to sports car construction, the new GR86 is also characterized by the classic configuration of front engine and rear-wheel drive. The engine is still a high-revving four-cylinder boxer, which thanks to a larger displacement can offer a significant increase in output and torque. Further technical modifications to the engine and transmission ensure that this additional potential is reflected in equally powerful acceleration across the entire engine speed range.
The Toyota GR Supra has made a remarkable impact, affirming its status as a sports car in its purest form, designed and engineered for the joy of driving. As the first global model to be developed by Toyota Gazoo Racing, it has drawn on Toyota’s sports car heritage while exploring new horizons of handling and performance.Now the range is being extended in the UK for the first time with the established 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbocharged engine being joined by a new 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo unit.The new 2.0-litre engine widens GR Supra’s market appeal and, being lighter and more compact than the 3.0-litre unit, improves the car’s inertia characteristics and chassis balance for even sharper handling.

Toyota has unveiled the long-awaited GR Corolla sports car, promising a spirited driving experience by combining essential GR Yaris underpinnings with an athletic five-door version of the world's best-selling nameplate.GR Corolla's performance credentials include a strengthened version of the homologation-special three-cylinder GR Yaris engine, as well as the GR-FOUR all-wheel-drive system, front and rear Torsen1 limited-slip differentials and six-speed manual transmission with a short-stroke gear shift lever.A valve-equipped triple-exhaust muffler improves airflow, unleashing maximum output of 220kW from the intercooled turbo engine, a gain of 10 per cent.
