A German court sentences a Gambian man to life in prison over his participation in a death squad that assassinated opponents of former dictator Yahya Jammeh, including AFP journalist Deyda Hydara. Nicolas Chafoulais, whose daughter Fiona was five years old when she died from injuries sustained in 2013, arrives at court in Lyon. The fourth trial of the girl's mother, Cécile Bourgeon and her ex-companion Berkane Makhlouf opens before the Rhône criminal court. Bourgeon and Makhlouf initially reported the child missing before admitting four months later they had killed her and buried the body. In 2016 Makhlouf was sentenced to 20 years in prison for his role in the crime, the mother to five years. The child's body is still missing. IMAGES
