The new Audi S6 Avant Design Preview

Description

Sportiness meets efficiency - the new Audi S6 and S7 models make their entrance with a torquey V6 TDI engine, offering customers in Europe the ideal performance models for the long haul. For the first time, Audi has combined an electric powered compressor with a 48-volt primary electrical system. The S sport suspension with damping control, dynamic all-wheel steering and the ceramic brake system tick all the boxes for dynamic cornering and deceleration. The striking design with the sophisticated looks of an S model lends these sporty full-size models particular presence. The huge torque peaking at 700 newton-meters (516.3 lb-ft) constantly available on demand to the driver across an engine speed range of 2,500 to 3,100 rpm is the ideal basis for performance-minded customers in Europe. The S TDI models offer high driving dynamics and efficiency - an especially attractive combination for long-distance driving. With the S6 and S7 TDI models Audi systematically takes the successful drive concept of the SQ7 TDI to the next level. For the first time, Audi's engineers have paired an electric powered compressor with a 48-volt primary electrical system. This takes the three-liter V6 TDI's total power output to 257 kW (349 hp). Power transmission is handled by the eight-speed tiptronic automatic transmission, which always operates in tandem with quattro permanent all-wheel drive.

  • Audi RS 4 Avant with competition plus package Design Preview

Despite its focus on increased driving fun, the RS sport suspension pro offers manually adjustable coilover suspension for an ideal spread between comfort and performance. Thanks to this, even longer distances can be covered comfortably with all available assistance systems and without any limitations. Customers who choose this coilover suspension will receive their RS 4 Avant or RS 5 ex factory with a ride height that is 10 mm lower than standard RS models. Plus, customers can manually lower the ride height by an additional 10 mm for an overall ride height that is 20 mm lower than the series standard. A higher spring rate, three-way adjustable dampers, and stiffer stabilizers heighten the general driving experience and help shorten lap times. The upshot: Customers profit from more precise and more agile handling. Both competition packages also feature an increased maximum speed of 290 km/h.

  • The new Audi A6 Avant e-tron concept Design Preview

Based on its dimensions, the Audi A6 Avant e-tron concept clearly represents the upscale segments – 4.96 meters (16.3 feet) in length, 1.96 meters (6.4 feet) in width, and 1.44 meters (4.7 feet) in height, the same as the current models in the Audi A6/A7 series. With its dynamic proportions and elegant lines, including the Avant back end typical of the brand, it’s obvious at first glance that this vehicle was conceived in a wind tunnel.Aerodynamics has always played a key role in Audi’s long history of success in the luxury class. The cW value of the Audi 100 / C3 – the aerodynamics world champion of all classes in its day – is legendary: with its cW value of 0.30, Audi was already far outperforming its competitors as early as 1982, and continued to do so for many years thereafter. Now the electrically powered family of the Audi A6 e-tron concept is writing a new chapter in this success story, proving once again that the brand always combines form and function in perfect symbiosis. The Sportback’s cW value of just 0.22 is unprecedented in the electrified C-segment. With its expansive roofline, the Avant’s cW value is just 0.02 units above that. In layman’s terms, this means the car exhibits minimal aerodynamic drag – which initially translates into lower energy consumption and therefore extended range. At the same time, the fine-tuning in the wind tunnel has once again resulted in an organic design with exceptional elegance and harmony down to the last detail.Large 22-inch wheels and short overhangs, the flat cabin, and a dynamic roof arch give the Avant proportions that are distinctly reminiscent of a sports car.

  • 2020 Audi S6 Design Preview

With the latest in innovative technologies including benchmark infotainment, combined with a dynamic driving experience thanks to a new twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 engine, as well as an S model interior and exterior design elements, the all-new 2020 Audi S6 delivers everything customers expect from a true luxury sports sedan. The Audi S6 in the US features a new 2.9-liter TFSI V6 engine, developed specifically to produce a wider range of torque when combined with an electric compressor powered by the 48V MHEV system. Using this set up, the Audi S6 is able to achieve 444 horsepower, 443 lb-ft of torque and can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds. With a response time under 250 milliseconds, and a maximum speed of 70,000 rpm, the first-ever electric power compressor offered by Audi in the U.S. pre-empts turbo lag, enabling immediate responsiveness and powerful acceleration in any driving situation.New for 2020, the Audi S6 is standard equipped with an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission that is well-suited for the low-end torque of the V6 engine, making it possible for the engine to consistently run near its ideal engine speed. The S6 is equipped with standard quattro all-wheel drive offering high-precision handling through active torque distribution to both axles. In regular driving situations, the system delivers 60 percent of the torque to the rear axle and 40 percent to the front. However, when needed, power can be redirected to the opposite axle, with up to 70 percent of torque to the front or up to 85 percent to the rear axle. Wheel-selective torque control can help enhance sporty handling by ensuring additional traction across each axle through individual-wheel braking application.
