The new Skoda Scala Design Preview

Description

Škoda has completely redefined its compact car segment with the Scala. As the name suggests the brand is aiming high with the new Škoda Scala: the word 'Scala' comes from Latin and means 'stairs', 'ladder' or 'scale'. By incorporating new technology, an emotive design, a high degree of functionality and state-of-the-art connectivity, the new Škoda Scala is taking more than just one development step at a time - and is also setting new benchmarks in the compact segment. The Scala is available with a selection of five engine variants featuring power outputs from 66 kW (90 PS) to 110 kW (150 PS), a high level of active and passive safety, as well as full LED headlights and tail lights. Added to this is plenty of space for luggage and passengers as well as a wealth of Simply Clever features - making it a true Škoda. Škoda is offering the new Scala with a choice of five modern turbocharged direct-injection engines, which all fulfil the strictest Euro 6d-TEMP emissions standard. Customers have a choice of three petrol engines with cylinder capacities of 1.0 or 1.5 l, a 1.6-litre diesel as well as a 1.0 G-TEC that is set to follow in the fourth quarter of 2019 and designed to run on eco-friendly natural gas (CNG). In addition to the standard chassis, Škoda is offering the Scala with a Rough-Road package, which provides greater ground clearance, as well as with Sport Chassis Control, which allows the driver to switch between two chassis settings at the touch of a button.

  • The new Škoda Scala Design Preview

Škoda has made the expressive design of its compact Scala even more distinctive. With a redesigned Škoda grille and revised aprons at the front and rear, the refreshed hatchback model is even more reminiscent of the spectacular Vision RS concept. Its dynamic appearance is reinforced by slimmed-down headlights, available for the first time with TOP LED Matrix technology and LED modules evoking blocks of ice. The wheels, available from 16 to 18 inches, have also been revised. The characterful extended rear window made of black glass, which stretches down to the redesigned tail lights, remains available as an option. Škoda offers a total of nine paint finishes for the new Scala. The sporty Scala Monte Carlo top model is traditionally characterised by numerous black accents. The Scala was the first model to showcase the current iteration of Škoda’s design language. For the update of the model series, the Czech car manufacturer has drawn on the Scala’s distinctive features and refined them further. The tapering headlights are now slimmer and even more sophisticated, featuring expressive LED components in the TOP LED Matrix variant. The front and rear aprons for the Scala emphasise sportiness, resembling the dynamic Vision RS concept. The updated Scala features a new Škoda grille. This comes with the traditional vertical slats and plays with the alternation of matt and glossy surfaces. The front bumper has also been redesigned: the central air intake is divided by side wings and flanked by more pronounced air curtains. These emphasise sportiness while also protecting the LED fog lights, which are standard from the SE L model upwards. The air intake grille has a mesh-style design and comes with diamond-shaped segments that create a three-dimensional look.

  • Tne new Skoda Slavia Design Preview

31 trainees from the renowned ŠKODA vocational school combine history and modernity with the seventh ŠKODA trainee car: in the anniversary year of ŠKODA AUTO, the open ŠKODA SLAVIA is reminiscent of the first bicycles that Václav Laurin and Václav Klement produced after the company was founded in 1895 . The Spider variant of the ŠKODA SCALA combines the clear and emotional lines of the modern compact model with the early days of the automobile, when the vehicles were mostly open. From the first drawing to the construction of the one-off, the trainees carried out all the work steps themselves with the support of their trainers and ŠKODA experts from the areas of design, production and technical development. The seventh ŠKODA trainee car since 2014 once again demonstrates the high quality of training at the ŠKODA vocational school in Mladá Boleslav.
