Depuis 2007, les Ford les plus huppées s'appellent Titanium, en référence à ce métal parfaitement insensible à la corrosion, d'une résistance mécanique exceptionnelle, qui en fait un matériau de choix pour toutes les industries de pointe. Mais beaucoup de clients conservent un souvenir ému de leur Escort Ghia bardée de chrome au début des années 1980, ou de leur Mondeo Ghia qui, dix ans plus tard, sortait du lot avec ses jantes en alliage léger, sa climatisation, son ABS et sa paire de coussins de sécurité. A l'époque, le petit blason Ghia vous posait un homme. Pourquoi, dès lors, ne pas ressusciter cette appellation employée depuis 1973, un an après le rachat par Ford de la Carrozzeria Ghia & Gariglio, sise à Turin depuis 1921 ? G. Thorel nous explique : "Ghia est lié à une certaine période de l'histoire de Ford. Ce nom reste le symbole du haut-de-gamme Ford d'alors. Alors qu'avec Vignale, nous cherchons à offrir quelque chose de plus complet, une véritable expérience exclusive allant de pair avec un produit exclusif."
