Aspirin also did not reduce a person's risk of death from gastrointestinal or pancreatic cancer. Aspirin is readily available and cheap as well, says the reports from UPI.
People who received the flu vaccine in the year before testing positive for COVID-19 may have a milder case of the virus. Those who received the vaccine are nearly 2 1/2 times less likely to be hospitalized with a severe form of COVID-19. According to UPI, vaccinated patients were more than three times less likely to be admitted to an ICU with COVID-19. Researchers stress however that the flu vaccine does not offer protection against COVID-19. Instead, they theorize that it may help prevent progression to severe disease from the virus by "priming" the immune system. The researchers plan to look at whether other types of vaccinations offer the same benefit.
German car manufacturer BMW unveiled its brand new i8 Roadster model at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show on Wednesday. The specifications of the updated 2016 Cadillac ELR range-extended electric car were released this morning, and one big question has been answered. The luxury coupe will not use the revised Voltec powertrain that propels the new second-generation 2016 Chevrolet Volt on sale later this year. But it boasts better performance, slightly higher electric range, more standard equipment, and a price cut of $10,000. Instead, the 2016 ELR will continue with its existing 17.1-kilowatt-hour battery pack and 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine. Nonetheless, it gets a notable boost in powertrain output, which has risen to 233 horsepower and 373 pound-feet of torque from the 207 hp and 295 lb-ft of the 2014 ELR.
