Panama opened the long-delayed expansion of its shipping canal on Sunday with just a dozen of the 70 heads of state invited to see the debut of the third set of locks attending the ceremony. Gavino Garay reports.

Images released by the Suez Canal Authority show a boat towing the now refloating M/V Glory, a cargo vessel grounded in Egypt's Suez Canal, while joining a southbound convoy near to Al Qantarah. Suez Canal maritime traffic has resumed to "normal" after the 225-metre-long cargo vessel carrying Ukrainian grain ran aground but was then refloated and towed away, according to Egyptian authorities. We are also going to expand the southern section by 40 meters from kilometer 132 to kilometer 162 and increase the depth of the canal from 66 feet to 72 ”.
