US cross-country skier Kikkan Randall, who is also the only mother on the team, became the first American athlete ever to receive a gold medal for Olympic cross-country skiing. On Wednesday, Randall won the Team Sprint Free Final race along with her partner Jessica Diggins, clocking the 7.5 km-long hilly track in 16.22.56. Randall is the only mother on the US team, as well as one of the first women to compete in five editions of the Olympic Games.
